About Me

Photography is a growing passion of mine since I began traveling 30 years ago. I fell in love with the many sights that I saw and wanted to record them. At first, I only photographed images for my own pleasure and reflection. Then as my passion grew, I began to frame them and hang them in my home. Gradually friends and relatives became interested in my work.

In 2005, I went to Boston and was greatly moved by the many historical sights and beautiful landscapes in Boston, Plymouth, Martha's Vineyard, and Nantucket. It was here that I became much more serious about documenting what I saw. Several individuals expressed an interest in purchasing my art. This further sparked my interest in photography and increased my eagerness for recording images that moved me, and in turn, moved others. For me, it is the ultimate artistic experience.

Prior to 2004, I used 35mm film. With the advent of digital photography, I became interested in digital imaging. In the fall of 2004, I purchased my first digital camera. I was awestruck by the quality of the color and clarity derived from digital images. My favorite camera is my relatively new Canon 20D.

My current work includes Arizona, California, Utah and Colorado, the East Coast, and the Midwest. My favorite creative experiences include landscape photography, architecture, and historical landmarks.

I view the creative process as a learning experience that requires patience. It is waiting for the inspirational moment when all things work together to create just the right image. The amazing wonder I experience is immense while watching the sunrise at Canyonlands National Park, waiting for just the right light to capture Mesa Arch. Likewise, I will never forget the unexpectedly beautiful sunset on a back road leading out of Arches National Park, which was just begging to be photographed.

Photography, as an art form, both motivates and challenges me. I am constantly searching for new information that will help me to move ahead artistically.

I am further motivated by individuals who view my art and comment that my work is beautiful; that they like the color in my images. For me the essence of the artistic experience is the joy, excitement, and fulfillment attained when creating something that others enjoy. All of this combined is my guiding force to even greater creativity.
