| Falling Springs Overlook, near Covington,
Virginia The magnificient Falling Springs Overlook is located on Route 220 in Alleghany County, just five miles north of Covington, Virginia. Falling Springs waterfall is one of the highest in Virginia. It flows from a spring above and plumments 200 feet into Falling Springs Creek which ultimately meanders into the Jackson River. The area is one of the most visited spots in the Alleghany Highlands. What a great photo opportunity in the fall as you overlook not only the scenic waterfall, you have the Allegheny Mountains in all their colorful splendor as a backdrop. Thomas Jefferson surveyed this area. On one occasion he stated that he thought this water fall was more beautiful than Niagra Falls. Another wonderful afternoon spent capturing the beauty around me. |
