| The Organ, Courthouse Towers Group, Arches
National Park, Moab Utah Courthouse Towers is a collective name for the towers between Park Avenue and Courthouse Wash in Arches National Park. Some of the other named towers in the Courthouse Towers group are The Organ, The Three Gossips, The Tower of Babel and Sheep Rock. The Organ is 500 feet tall and is so named because someone thought its vertical cracks made it looked like a pipe organ. The age of the rock in this group is late Jurassic, approximately 160 to 170 millions years old. Here again, I am absolutely astonished that something this old is still standing. Further, that I had the opportunity to capture this incredibly ancient piece of history. |
